CELEBRATING THE FUTURE
OF MUSIC EDUCATION
The lack of creative education for children can be the difference between life and death.
Conventional education is NOT enough — especially for children who have experienced trauma, struggle with daily life, or are negatively affected by social media. Music makes children whole!
If we educate children solely out of books, we create children who live inside their heads. When we give them music to feed their souls with, we give them a voice to transform their identity, an opportunity to heal generational trauma, and a vision to lead a brighter future. We give them HOPE!
The Vision
Mary Fanaro, the visionary behind OmniPeace Foundation, conceived the Global Music Box initiative after building two music schools in Rwanda.
She recognized the potential for greater impact would be to train teachers to become music educators within their classrooms rather than simply building more schools.
Why Music?
The Rwanda Rocks Music School serves as a successful pilot program with an impressive track record of outstanding achievements and critical success.
Students in this program have exhibited social-emotional wellbeing, improved academic performance, and increased literacy - a necessary step in the fight against poverty.
Music education fuels innovative thinking, ignites instrumental change, and fosters the entrepreneurial spirit that will shape a brighter future for our youth and ultimately the world.
