Why Rwanda, Why Music
Music opens a part of the brain that nothing else in the world can, and when that happens, all things are possible.
When Rwanda Rocks Music School opened its doors in 2016, they were the first music school in Rwanda offering free music education to children.
It was a challenge for parents to send their children to an after-school music program because that they felt it would never come to anything. But over time, they were flabbergasted by the changes their children were making.
Not only were they more connected to their family but their connection to other students in school became stronger, their academic scores improved, their social, emotional well-being improved and even more important, now they had dreams they never had before.

These skills make the difference between being consumed by the challenges of a poverty-stricken community or rising above them to become innovative, successful young adults, paving the way to a sustained economic development.
Why Music?
Rwanda is a country reborn from the ashes of genocide in 1994 where over 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days. Now Rwanda is one of the most magnificent and productive countries on the continent of Africa.
